Accountability, Part 2 and Double Chocolate Banana Soft Serve

Are you really, truly serious about losing weight? If so, Beck's advice on Day 6 needs to be taken very seriously (as serious as the heart attacks we are trying to prevent and reverse, Dr. Esselstyn!).

There are many ways to go about finding this accountability, and one way that I found works well for me is to find a small group of people who check in with each other daily and list out what they have eaten (the good, the bad, the ugly). It works like magic. Seriously.

If you take it seriously.

It casts a spell over you that strengthens your resistence muscle. If you commit to 100% honesty.

I know what you are thinking. It's so worth it. You'll thank me when you are at a healthy weight.

(1) Go to the main page of the T. Colin Campbell Foundation's Ning thing: http://tcolincampbell.ning.com/
(2) Register to become a member.
(3) Once you are a member, click on "Groups" at the top navigation.
(4) One of the groups is "Healthy Girl's Kitchen."
(5) Inside our group is a discussion called "Accountability Forum."
(6) Introduce yourself and start logging your food (and thoughts) in the accountability forum.

If you are struggling with a sugar addiction, here's a recipe to pay particular attention to.
Banana soft serve defies all explanation. One could argue that it is the saving grace of the Plant-based epicurean world. I for one know that if there were not a replacement for soft serve ice cream, I just couldn't commit. Little do most people know, what we're eating is better.

Healthy Girl's Double Chocolate Banana Soft Serve
serves 3

Printable Recipe

4 medium ripe bananas that have been frozen and broken into chunks
1 Tbsp raw cacao powder or cocoa powder
1 Tbsp ground flax seed (optional)
3/8 cup almond, soy or rice milk
2 Tbsp raw cacao nibs

Place bananas, cacao powder, ground flax seed, and nut milk in a high powered blender or food processor and blend, scraping down sides and tamping mixture down as necessary, until mixture resembles soft serve ice cream. Add cacao nibs and blend again until incorporated. Serve immediately.

Recipe instruction change suggestion: Instead of 'bananas that have been frozen and broken into chunks' try 'bananas chopped into chunks and then frozen'!!!
It is much easier than trying to chop up a frozen banana!

DELICIOUS! Bananner Ice Cream is the BEST! :D I love how you made it Chocolate. I would drizzle on some Peanut Buttah to make it a Reese's bowl! :D

Peanut butter is yummy! I like to add a little bit of pepperment extract and vanilla for a minty, chocolaty treat!

I bought one of those "Yonanas" banana soft serve maker and made banana mango soft serve last night. I'm sorry to say that it set me off on a mini-binge. It has the same texture as ice cream and that's what did it for me :-(
I'm thinking of joining the group after I return from vacation in a couple of weeks. I know that's an excuse...

You are so right about sending someone else what you have eaten each day! I recently did that with a friend of mine. After a few days of actually typing out and seeing everything that you put into you mouth, I had to tell her that I had better straighten up! Because I could not send her any more "emails of shame"!

I find not using the "milk" makes it truly creamy like soft serve! Just bananas and cocoa powder make super delish chocolate banana soft serve! I just process a bit, let sit a minute and process until it gets smooth! scraping the sides down a couple times as I go... YUM!

I like to add about a T raw shredded coconut to my banana cacao soft serve! Yummy!!

I just finished up a slight variation on your Double Chocolate soft serve!

I really really thought I was eating ice cream--it so good.

I Vita-Mixed one large frozen banana that was cut into pieces, about 5 frozen cherries (plucked out of a bag of TJ Very Cherry Berry Blend, 1 TBS of cocoa, a dash of vanilla, about 4 small walnut pieces, and about 3 TBS of soy milk.

Mixed in an 1/8 tsp of raw cacao nibs when it was all done.

I Love making "raw" Ice cream. Banana is a good base you can make it into any flavor! :)

Hi Wendy, catching up on your recent posts, love the banana soft serve, haven't made it with the cacao nibs but even without them it is delicious, I have to be careful not to freeze too many bananas since this is so good it can trigger a binge for me.

In regards to what is preventing me from joining your accountability group - well - my pattern is that every time I am involved in any type of "program" I rebel and it seems my urges to go off plan are more frequent and I obsess more about food.

I loved the recent post from anonymous about how others respond to her plant strong eating, tonight is my first Sunday dinner with my in-law family where everything revolves around food and is a situation where in the past I will eat whatever they give me in order to avoid drawing attention to myself and hearing all the comments. I am going to bring a dish and take it from there, have visualized my "no, thank you" response instead of explaining as I tend to.
